The Bells illuminated

An eerie, rumored to be haunted, old carriage house and stables in Rhode Island. "The Bells" also known originally as The Reefs was built in 1876 by Theodore M. Davis, lawyer and copper magnate on Ocean Drive in Newport, Rhode Island (Brenton Point State Park). The estate fit right in with the wealthy, sophisticated mansions of Newport and was taken over by the Budong family after Davis' passing in 1915, until the family's separation in 1928. During World War II the property was seized by the US Government to be used for defense similar to many other forts and strongholds scattered along the lengthy coastline. After the war, the US government returned the property however the Budong's has no intention to return and it was left abandoned. There is still a mystery as to what became of the impressive collection of Egyptian Artifacts Mr. Davis had collected and procured through his many travels during the late 19th century. Despite a fire preceding most of the property's demolition in 1960, the stable house still stands and has become a spooky canvas for graffiti artists and urban explorers alike with stories of supernatural experiences and heavy energy.
